Trishul is an Indian Hindi film directed by Yash Chopra and produced by Gulshan Rai in 1978. It is written by Salim-Javed, with music by Khayyam and lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi. The movie was a Super Hit at the box-office and one of the top grossers of 1978, along with Muqaddar Ka Sikander and Don. .
It was remade in Tamil by Rajnikant as "Mr. Bharath" with Satyaraj donning Sanjeev Kumars role.
Vijay [Amitabh Bachchan] is the illegitimate son of a construction baron [Sanjeev Kumar] and his first love, Shanti [Waheeda Rehman], whom he gives up in order to marry a wealthy heiress. Shanti comes by to wish him success on his marriage, along with the news that she is carrying his child and moving away. She gives birth to son Vijay and raises him into adulthood. After she dies, Vijay comes to Delhi to take revenge on his father by destroying his fathers business and family connections. Shashi Kapoor and Poonam Dhillon play his half-siblings who are caught in the cross-fire of Vijays revenge.
Vijay also crosses paths with Rakhee, the devoted secretary of Sanjeev Kumar and rival company president Hema Malini.
The film focuses on the three intertwined stories of Amitabh, Sanjeev, and Shashi.
